Not even. I'm a HUGE Meego fan and Nokia just wasn't bringing out any Meego Devices then Turned and Dropped it leaving Intel to bare the load. Now at least along with Samsung, we'll actually get some devices out to the Customer. Tizen basically IS Meego and HTML5 is what everybody is moving toward anyway which means more support for Tizen/Meego so if you understand it, its not bad news at all. It's actually an Evolution of Meego. Also, eventually QT apps and such will be ported to HTML5 anyway so there's nothing negative to say about this. This can only go up.

this really sucks. Without Qt-Support, Meego is dropped out. That's a really bad news for all meego-fans.

HTML5 apps will run on top of linux, HTML5 is mostly GUI. They ar probably doing same as Windows 8. Make it possible to create simple native apps in HTML5 but that doesn't conflict with normal apps.

I am very happy to see this merge and am eagerly waiting for the first conference news with Tizen devices. With Samsung backing it along with Intel, I know we'll FINALLY get some devices out to the Consumer. I will be awaiting a conference and news on Tizen.

As a day to day user of the KDE desktop one of the key things that made
nokia/meego interesting was its use and promotion of QT, if Tizen
doesn’t use that then it lessens my interest in exactly the same way as
Nokia downplaying “linux” in its QT marketed handsets.

I also doubt the capability of Tizen to be anything more than still-born
if it doesn’t use a decent mobile focussed UI toolkit like Qt.

I have seen too many of these mobile linux partnerships come and go to
no real effect, at the end of the day nokia is on its fifth generation
of mobile linux products, that is at least a real track record to place
some trust in.

I’m all for meego being folded into Tizen, and wishing it every success,
but without nokia and Qt i remain sceptical, and quite happy to
continue with an N9 for the next couple of years.

A UI framework based on QT............ Would Samsung be interested in making this switch?

In which case Bada becomes nothing more than a Brand and a QT implementation of their Sense UI (?).

True about the OS uncertainty. Glad to hear that you'll be at AppUp Elements. You know I'm going to ask you for a Live Stream from there so you already have a heads up. :D

I need to get in on this stuff and these events. How do you get to these events? Is it invite only or a paid admission or general public type thing?

I don't really use Twitter but I'll keep your info just to check in often. I was really waiting on that LG GW990 but it never came out. Ok cool, I go to FoneArena every now and then and will definitely keep an eye out for your articles.

Thanks for all the support. It is definitely sad to see that the blog didn't work out as well as @Chippy and i had hoped but i suppose we have the uncertainty around the OS to blame for that.
I'm currently blogging over at FoneArena while Chippy will be at all the usual places :)I will be at the Intel AppUp Elements event next week and hope to hear something on the MeeGo front. Hey chippy Sorry to hear that this blog didn't work for you. I tried to help get people here but got banned from alot of sites for linking and people thinking it was spam, but its ok because I really am for Meego and all things supporting it. I did actually get a few people to come. Where are you going to be posting Meego related news? I've seen a pretty active site called AllAboutMeego. Then there's always Meego's official site. Or I could design you a site.

How have you been? Any info on where Dhruv is too? Hope all is going well for you and him as well. You two make a great team and should start a Live Meego web show through Ustream, Justin.tv, BitGravity, etc. I think you two are knowledgable enough to generate tons more positive interest in Meego. Just a thought. Also, you two should try to get on Leo Leporte's webshow via Twit Live. That would be a HUGE target audience to get feedback and generate more interest in Meego.

I've sent you some info in the "Seeding Meego with Oaktrail Products" article about the new Meego netbook that is being sold for $226. It's an Asus Eee PCX101 and may be the Meego Netbook I grab. It's also info about how the N9 64GB has already sold out of the Pre-orders in Finland.

Also, I've heard some of those rumors regarding Samsung and Meego as well and I agree it would be a great asset to both Meego and Samsung. It would benefit Meego by having a major manufacturer actually implementing and bringing to consumers, some Meego devices all over the world and not just select markets. It could benefit Samsung by adding a new Core OS to their lineup of not just phones but TV's and other appliances they make.

Now I'm not too fond of Samsung's Construction and Build Quality using that plastic material and I have a HD2 (Which I've had to have replaced 6 times due to Hardware AND Software issues) so that kind of left a bad taste for me with HTC but at this point, I'd take them both if they can Bring Meego products to more consumers.

I've kind of lost my support relationship with Nokia due to how Elop and crew have been treating Meego and the N9. I still like Nokia but not nearly as much. I'm much more of an Intel supporter now and wish them the best and I know Meego will be a huge success once consumers get it.

I believe the three OS choices going forward are going to be Android, Meego and IOS as Windows seems to be losing its competitive edge lately. That's for Desktop OS as well as mobile OS. But that's just my personal opinion.

Hopefully Intel can find a good partner that wont quit. I prefer LG, not to sure about Panasonic or Huawei as I've never owned or demoed one of their devices but LG usually have some pretty solid builds. I just wish that they'd come out with that GW990 Meego phone. I really liked how that device was turning out.

This is an interesting article. So they are basically putting Meego and Oaktrail together now. That could be very interesting indeed. I wonder when manufacturers will start mass producing these Meego devices and getting some over here to the USA for consumers? I'd love one of those Meego Tablets.

chippy I want a Meego Laptop. I tried to install Meego onto my laptop through the Flash Drive but it wouldn't work. Netbooks are fine but I want a Meego Laptop with DVD-RW drives and all. Have you seen any custom Meego roms on any laptops?
